Activision announces Shrek Forever After video game

How many of you out there think that the Shrek franchise has just been milked for all it is worth? Sure, the first two instalments were funny, but the third was a largely forgettable outing (IMHO), and I’m horrified to see that there will be another movie known as Shrek Forever After which is arriving at movie theaters this year, albeit riding atop the stereoscopic 3D wave that has “plagued” our theaters ever since the unprecedented success of Avatar. Just because one movie made it big in 3D, that doesn’t mean all the others that follow will be as good. Hopefully this game will offer a reversal in trends, where it plays better than watching it in the theater.

Majesco announces Attack of the Movies 3-D

Folks who are rocking to the Wii and Xbox 360 will be pleased to know that Majesco, the name behind many casual and yet engaging titles on home consoles will be bringing Attack of the Movies 3-D to both platforms. Each purchase comes complete with a quartet of 3-D glasses that help it support up to four-player multiplayer action, where you and three of your other friends will be transported to six fantastic movie-themed worlds where you will go up head to head and battle against monstrous insects, blast underwater sea creatures, join the resistance against the machines and much more. Not only that, you will also go up head to head against classic enemies culled from the annals of film history, as this inspired 3-D shooter jumps right out of your television and into your living room.

Robo Smasher now out as a free download

Kru Interactive has just announced that they will be rolling out Robo Smasher, an online multiplayer game that is available as a free download. Yes, you heard us right – if you want to get some gaming goodness that doesn’t require you to fork out a single cent (Save for the cost of electricity, of course), then Robo Smasher might be the right game for you as it merges third-person shooter action with block-moving strategy. Sounds like an amalgamation that doesn’t mix? Well, just give it a go and let us know then, as you won’t know until you try something, right? The game will sport a super-deformed cartoon theme that ought to appeal to players of all ages.

Sid Meier’s Civilization V ready to ship with Steamworks

civ52K Games and Valve recently announced earlier this month that they will be enabling power all PC versions of the highly anticipated Sid Meier’s Civilization V with a slew of Steamworks’ features, and that also will come with a special Digital Deluxe Edition through Steam. Apart from that, customers who pre-order the regular or Digital Deluxe editions of Sid Meier’s Civilization V on Steam will also be rewarded with a free map pack that ought to stoke strategists worldwide when the game rolls out to the masses later fall. Hmmm, free is always good, but something tells us that the cost of programming the map pack has already been factored in – surely they wouldn’t sell software at a loss, eh?

Majesco announces Monster Tale for Nintendo DS

Majesco will be backing the Nintendo DS with yet another gaming title known as Monster Tale, where they will work together with developer DreamRift to bring you what was previously known as Project Monster, where gamers will be able to enjoy a mix of platform game play on the top screen with a deep pet-raising game on the Touch Screen, resulting in a dynamic, one-of-a-kind adventure. The protagonist in this game would be young Ellie and a mysterious young monster known as Chomp who will work together to reclaim the Monster World from the Kid Kings and their enslaved creature pets.

Funcom knows that their best sellig MMORPG, Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures has been more than a half decent hit, in fact it has definitely made life a whole lot more fun, and those who are well versed with MMORPGs would probably have had a crack at it by now. Well, the game is now into its expansion, known as Age of Conan: Rise of the Godslayer, where you can pick it up from a retail shop near you as a combined package which includes the original game to get you started just in case you missed out on that one alongside the expansion. StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty pricing now announced

Blizzard knows that their StarCraft cash cow is far from being milked to its very last drop, which is why they are coming up with a long-anticipated sequel known as StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty. We know that this game will be a success long before the game was completed, knowing Blizzard’s rabid and yet massive fan base. Can’t blame them though, for Blizzard really knows how to make a mean game, and one that has great gameplay mechanics, a riveting storyline as well as looking all stunning while making the most advantage of today’s hardware. Well, the company has just announced the pricing structure for StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, where it will also be fully localized into Latin American Spanish and will be available in Mexico, Argentina, and Chile for a recommended retail price of $299 MXN/$119 ARS/$13,900 CLP. Each purchase will be accompanied by six months of access to the StarCraft II single-player campaign and multiplayer play through the new version of Battle.net.

Sony has plans to introduce LittleBigPlanet 2

lbpLittleBigPlanet has been more than a decent hit on the Sony PS3 platform, and the company has now announced plans to introduce LittleBigPlanet 2, a sequel to the award-winning, multi-million unit selling hit LittleBigPlanet. Needless to say, this will be similar to its predecessor, being an exclusive for the PlayStation 3 console. It will be developed by Media Molecule, where fans will have a new means to PLAY, CREATE, and SHARE, where this includes a revamped graphics engine that is capable of supplying stunning visuals, a fresh storyline, added accessories and equipment for Sackboy, and revolutionary gameplay mechanics providing players a level of control and customization that has never been seen before.
