
Rock Band is a best seller by all accounts, and since its launch on November 20 last year, the title has moved more than 6 million game levels alone based on the songs purchased. Part of this success is due to an impressive weekly stream of downloadable content that is available since launch, along with more than 70 songs available for purchase. For a game to go six times platinum is saying a lot, and it shows that casual gaming is here to stay, with more than enough power to appeal to the masses.









Looks like the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona is a happy hunting ground for Cellufun, having picked up the “Best Mobile Game” award at that event. It isn’t the only winner though as Glu Mobile’s “My Hangman” also picked up accolades for itself in that category. The 13th Annual Global Mobile Awards ceremony was held at Barcelona’s National Palace, and it is an event that celebrates the highest achievements across the mobile industry, ranging from innovation to mobile entertainment, mobile services, handsets and devices. 
Soft-World International might be a name that is unfamiliar to most of us (I’m not in the know as well), but it is actually the largest developer/operator of online games in Taiwan. Introductions aside, a January 30 press conference saw Soft-World International roll out its new game known as Xenjo Journey Online. Xenjo Journey Online holds the distinction of being the first PC/Xbox 360 online game that is based on a Chinese-language interface – making this the firstfruits of its co-operation with Microsoft when it comes to developing similar cross-platform games. Porting it over to the Xbox 360 shouldn’t be too hard considering it has basically a similar hardware architecture to that of a PC.
