Just in case you’re feeling extremely depressed about the current state of world economies, the UMOO has just the panacea for you. They have rolled out a new way to keep you distracted from global financial market meltdowns in the form of a new online fantasy stock trading platform. In addition, UMOO has thrown in the added incentive to win cold, hard cash from virtual trades. I think this is a fine idea, but sometimes one might think he/she is too savvy and enter the real world market only to get burnt badly later on.

Golden Tee Golf gets 20th Anniversary 2009 edition
October 20th, 2008 by Edwin in Games – New Releases
I think that one sport most executives would not be able to give up even in times of economic hardship would be golf. Why do I say that? Well, these are the very same people who can spend all day at the green neglecting their family as they attempt to find that perfect stroke, applying knowledge that has been garnered from poring over tome after tome of golf tips. Good thing there is a digital replacement for this addiction even when it rains, in the form of the Golden Tee Golf 20th Anniversary 2009 edition.
Atari goes gold with Dragon Ball: Origins
October 18th, 2008 by Edwin in Games – New Releases
Atari has not only gone gold with Dragon Ball Z: Infinite World, but they have also done the same with Dragon Ball: Origins for the Nintendo DS (which is still going to hang around for quite some time compared to the PS2 mind you). Developed by Namco Bandai Games, the title name Dragon Ball: Origins suggests revisiting the original Dragon Ball series, traveling all over the world in a thrilling action-adventure game setting complete with purported innovative stylus controls, although it remains to be seen just how innovative it will be. Will it be like Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass with its intuitive navigation control using the stylus? I guess we’ll have to wait until the game itself is released to find out.
Atari completes Dragon Ball Z: Infinite World
October 17th, 2008 by Edwin in Games – New Releases
Dragon Ball fans, rejoice! It is reported that Atari has finally gone gold with the Dragon Ball Z: Infinite World game which will coincidentally, be the final “Z” game for the aging PS2 platform (guess this could very well be one of the last triple A titles on that platform, too, before Sony kills it off). What you will find in Dragon Ball Z: Infinite World would be a number of elements from previous Budokai and Shin-Budokai series, in addition to the latest next-gen Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit title in order to go out with a bang, being the definitive DBZ experience on the PS2 console. New features have been included such as “Dragon Missions”, new battle types and dramatic cut scenes to further up the immersive experience.
Majesco announces Left Brain Right Brain 2 for the DS
October 16th, 2008 by Edwin in Games – New Releases
Majesco will be rolling out yet another brain game on one of its favorite gaming platforms, Left Brain Right Brain 2. This sequel was developed by Kokolo Corporation, and it is hoped that Left Brain Right Brain 2 will be able to help players develop their ambidexterity by using both hands to play all-new mental training games which feature an updated graphic presentation. Sounds like a pretty challenging game to me, but it should provide a fair number of laughs in the beginning before frustration creeps in.
SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALS Confrontation announced for the PS3
October 15th, 2008 by Edwin in Games – New Releases
Can’t get enough of war games? Well, you can now enjoy SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALS Confrontation as it is released in North America. This title brings a whole new range of interactivity thanks to its integrated with an official Bluetooth headset that offers accurate speech recognition as well as voice command support for a more realistic gaming experience.
Alone in the Dark: Inferno from Atari to debut this November
October 13th, 2008 by Edwin in Games – New Releases
I remember my first experience with Edward Carnby in the seminal Alone in the Dark game on the PC - even though I was too poor to afford a sound card back then (yes boys and girls, PCs of yore did not have embedded sound cards), the game still freaked me out with its chilling suspense and dark secrets. The sequel and third version of the game never really got me as spooked as the original, so it is interesting to note that Atari will be releasing Alone in the Dark: Inferno on the PS3 this November. Touted to be the ultimate Alone in the Dark experience to date, I’ll have to see it with my own eyes to believe it.
Majesco Hot ‘n’ Cold hits Nintendo DS
October 11th, 2008 by Edwin in Games – New Releases
Majesco is on a roll with both Nintendo platforms this generation, and this time round they have yet another game known as Hot ‘n’ Cold that will arrive on the Nintendo DS platform. What does Hot ‘n’ Cold consist of anyway? For starters, it sends players on a hunt for missing items within large environments that break new ground in the hidden object genre by being fully 3D. A fully 3D environment, eh? Hopefully the lowly graphical capability of the Nintendo DS is able to present such an environment in a realistic manner.
Majesco’s Jillian Michaels’ Fitness Ultimatum 2009 goes gold
October 10th, 2008 by Edwin in Games – New Releases
Majesco has yet another title that has gone gold - Jillian Michaels’ Fitness Ultimatum 2009. This game will be heading towards the Wii platform this October 21st, and is the first of its kind that will see a celebrity fitness trainer within. Jillian Michaels needs no introduction, as she plays the role of strength trainer and life coach on the popular TV series “The Biggest Loser”. Good to see yet another game take advantage of the Wii Balance Board accessory in ways never thought possible for the video game industry a long time ago. Then again, many other things were not possible back then too, but I digress.
Line Rider 2: Unbound hits the Wii
October 9th, 2008 by Edwin in Games – New Releases
With both the DS and PC platforms having received their copies of Line Rider 2: Unbound already, what about single console people who survive on nothing but the Wii as their daily bread? Well, good news for them then as Genius Products has already started to roll out Line Rider 2: Unbound for the Wii. This title will retain all the fun and thrills of the original Web version that saw productivity in the office plummet, and will be equally addictive despite being on a totally different platform.
