Pac-Man Championship Edition arrives on different platforms
December 14th, 2009 by Edwin in Games – New Releases
Who would have thought that Pac-Man would have made it after all these years, surviving and evolving with the times? The latest edition of our favorite yellow-colored pill popper is Pac-Man Championship Edition, where it will arrive on the iPod touch, iPhone and mobile platforms. Namco Networks is behind this game, targeting the extremely lucrative mass-market casual gaming segment of the industry.
Bringing championship-caliber gameplay to mobile gaming devices everywhere, PAC-MAN is back to tackle dynamically evolving mazes and game modes, just in time for this iconic videogame character to turn 30 in 2010. Legendary game creator, Toru Iwatani, the mastermind behind the original PAC-MAN game, helped design PAC-MAN Championship Edition for its original release on Xbox Live Arcade. Namco has replicated this experience, bringing detailed graphics and visual effects directly to the player’s hands.
Some of the features found in PAC-MAN Championship Edition include :-
- Up to six different game modes making gameplay fast and challenging (mobile)
- Facebook integration to share scores and achievements with friends in an online global leaderboard (mobile)
- Twelve in-game trophies for completing various tasks (mobile)
- Four control types tailored to Apple’s devices (iPhone and iPod touch)
- Ability to purchase the Expansion Pack for more courses and missions (iPhone and iPod touch)
Don’t expect Pac-Man Championship Edition to be the last of the Pac-Man franchise to hit the market, as it could very well be the start of many other Pac-Man endorsed products which will roll out in order to celebrate its upcoming 30th anniversary. Interested in the game? Be patient, as it will be available across all major U.S. mobile carriers through this holiday season.
