When I was a kid, one of the cartoons that I definitely looked forward to was Alvin and The Chipmunks, where this musical group of magical chipmunks captured my imagination alongside other kiddy staple such as He-Man: Master of the Universe, Thundercats, TMNT and Transformers. Well, suffice to say Alvin and The Chipmunks did gain a revival of sorts with a full feature movie being released a while ago alongside the now customary accompaniment of video games. Guess the game did well enough to warrant sequel – or in this case, a squeakquel for both the Wii and Nintendo DS platforms in the form of Alvin and The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel.

Featuring award-winning songs from The Chipmunks’ library and hits from popular artists, Alvin and The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel lets players star as The Chipmunks, their girl-group counterparts The Chipettes, or both as they rock out on the ultimate worldwide tour. Performers can unlock and choose from a variety of pulse-pounding concert locations including 25 different venues on Wii and 11 in the Nintendo DS version. Using the Wii Remote and Nunchuk or Nintendo DS stylus, players must keep the bands on tempo through songs that grow increasingly challenging in two modes of difficulty – Normal and Expert – to gain fans and set attendance records. Performers can also choose from a variety of gameplay modes including Multiplayer, that lets them compete against two friends on Wii or up to three friends on Nintendo DS, and Jukebox, where they can play their favorite unlocked songs while watching and singing along to music videos. Offering hours of fun for the entire family, Alvin and The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel lets fans of all ages boogie their way to the top this holiday season.

The title itself was developed by ImaginEngine, and regardless of which platform you purchase it for, Alvin and The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel has been rated E for Everyone and will retail for $39.99 for the Wii version and $29.99 for the DS version.
