Sonic Boom unveils Alice in Bomberland
October 29th, 2009 by Edwin in Games – New Releases
Sonic Boom, one of the main publishers of mobile entertainment applications and games has just announced the availability of a new title that will hit the iPhone and iPod touch, known as Alice in Bomberland. Designed and developed by Chris DeLeon, the man behind the hit iPhone game Topple, Alice in Bomberland will boast character animation by David Hellman, the very same person who picked up an Independent Games Festival award and is the visual artist behind the hit Xbox Live Arcade and PC game Braid. Guess you can expect a visual feast with this title on either device considering the sheer number of pedigree behind!
Alice in Bomberland puts a new spin on the classic stories and characters from author Lewis Carroll’s works Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. Help Alice survive 48 challenges, themed with the story’s eight most popular characters including The Cheshire Cat, The Hatter, and The Queen of Hearts, while trying to outmaneuver a never-ending barrage of explosives. Alice in Bomberland also features an 11 song soundtrack, 24 types of power-ups, and exclusive artwork by professional children’s book illustrator Mark Meyers.
I think that after playing American McGee’s Alice on the PC, nothing else about this fabled fairy tale in a different setting and manner is going to pique my interest. Seriously, get Alice if you haven’t played it back in the day where Pentium chips came with just one core and graphics cards ran solo. You won’t be disappointed, and you have my word on that. Still, an iPhone isn’t exactly the best gaming platform out there so perhaps it has its niche market.
