MotorStorm Arctic Edge arrives on the PS2
October 21st, 2009 by Edwin in Games – New Releases
While the PS2 is the best selling console worldwide to date, the Sony PS3 hasn’t really done much to live up to expectations despite having the best processors around with superb graphics in most of their titles, while holding the advantage of being one of the cheaper Blu-ray players around initially. Still, it is nice to know that the Sony PS3 which has gone through a revamp externally as well as internally is doing extremely well in the first month of its release, but today we will look at a forgotten platform – the Sony PS2. MotorStorm Arctic Edge is the name of the game, where gamers will be able to enjoy rugged new tracks, a couple of terrain-specific vehicles, vehicle customization options, and life-like Artificial Intelligence (AI) features. You can also opt to have some friends over your place for some intense two-player split-screen racing.
Players will be stunned by the rugged Alaskan landscape featuring narrow mountain passes, giant ice caves and slippery ice bridges showcased in 12 amazing new track designs. Stormers will need lightning-fast reflexes to negotiate the dangerous arctic conditions – sudden avalanches triggered by players sounding their horns, collapsing ice bridges, bobsleigh corners and three different racing altitudes. Mother Nature is the only enemy as other racers are the real threats, with combat-like racing that takes center stage with vehicles used as the weapons. With dramatic forces of nature and humans colliding, MotorStorm Arctic Edge gives players more aggressive tools in their competitive arsenals. Along with the six vehicle classes from the original MotorStorm, two new snow-specific classes are introduced in MotorStorm Arctic Edge – the nimble Snowcat and the more forceful Snow Machine. Players can personalize each vehicle in the livery by updating with a selection of wheels, exhaust, spoilers and sponsorship stickers. Also, to further simulate realistic game play, cutting-edge AI analyzes the race and surroundings and reacts to situations in real time, locating the best routes and changing the level of aggression based on cumulative player actions.
Gaming with this title will never offer a dull moment for your ears since it will feature a compilation of 20 licensed tracks from top artists and more to keep the adrenaline pumping while you do your best to complete the course in record time. Image from IGN.
