order-of-warSquare Enix, the name behind the super famous Final Fantasy series that has millions of fans worldwide, has just announced that they will be bringing Order of War for the PC platform throughout North America. This is a brand-new IP being developed from scratch by strategy game specialists Wargaming.net, and it will see Order of War as Square Enix’s maiden attempt at a western-developed game outside of Japan. The end results should be interesting as class can never disappear just like that overnight.

ORDER OF WAR is a historically accurate, World War II real-time strategy game that takes the genre to new heights. Massive-scale battles and epic warfare are brought to life with cinematic intensity as players are challenged to take command of vast numbers of infantry, tank battalions, heavy artillery and aircraft. Planning multi-pronged strategic assaults, players will navigate their ways through missions based on key historic events and operations from 1944. The single-player mode can be played out in two campaigns. The first features American forces versus German forces as they land on the beaches of occupied France on D-Day. The second lets players change sides, commanding German forces in Poland battling against the mighty Soviet Army and in France battling American troops. The multiplayer mode can be played in either LAN or Internet mode, powered by GameSpy Technology. With battles on six maps from campaign mode, multiplayer allows gamers to play as the Americans, Germans or Soviets with the objective of total domination of all Control Points and total annihilation of enemy units.

For those who are salivating at the prospect of playing Order of War, they will be well pleased to know that Square Enix has targeted this to be the first among several upcoming titles from their stable that are working in tandem with North American and European development studios, where the other titles will include Supreme Commander 2 and Front Mission Evolved.
