Vampires vs. Werewolves on the App Store
July 9th, 2009 by Edwin in Games – New Releases
Funny, I’m wondering till this day why vampires have been pitted in a blood feud against werewolves. Are these two supernatural creatures pretty well matched up? I mean, surely a werewolf would make short work of say, a lumbering mummy, where the mummy is better off fighting against something equally slow and awkward like Frankenstein. Well, this doesn’t detract from the fact that the Underworld movie (the first one anyway) kicked ass, with SGN having announced the availability of its Vampires vs. Werewolves game on the App Store. This is the first-of-its kind, story-driven game for iPhone and iPod touch that boasts Facebook Connect, live synchronous game play and the ability to locate other players in your vicinity through the iPhone’s geo-location capability.
Should they choose to enter this dark labyrinthine world, users have the power to declare allegiance to a mystical creature of the night – a werewolf or vampire. Under the cloak of night, werewolves and vampires with specialized and finely honed survival skills, such as ‘vicious fangs’ and ‘blasting howls’, explore this moonlit world, embark on dark quests alone or with a team in real-time, overcome supernatural dangers and fight fearsome creatures for superiority and blood to rule the magical underworld. This highly inventive game leverages the iPhone’s geo-location feature so players can invite other users in their area to join their clan. Vampires vs. Werewolves also features a game within a game, ‘Alchemy Creation’, allowing any player to arm themselves with threatening powers, increase their vampire fangs strength to ‘vicious fangs’ or their werewolf’s howl decibel to a ‘blasting howl’ and wreak havoc among enemies. Users can visit the auction house for help and guidance in their journeys as well as pick up rare abilities that will get them ahead in the game.
Depending on your budget (come on, surely you can afford a dollar), the game can be your for free in the ‘lite’ version, but folks who aren’t cheapskate and pony up $0.99 will be able to enjoy the premium version.
