DinerTown Detective Agency

June 19th, 2009 by Edwin in Games – New Releases

Everyone knows that PlayFirst, Inc. is a company that has released more than just decent casual games to date, and this time round they are offering yet another title that will have something to do with DinerTown – the DinerTown Detective Agency. Judging by the name, you can tell that there will be some degrees of sleuthing elements within the game, where it will offer a light-hearted play on the traditional hidden object game genre. Those who are PlayFirst PlayPass members will be able to gain exclusive access to the game for both Mac and PC download from Tuesday, June 23 onwards, while the rest of us ordinary folk will have to wait a couple more days after that – no biggie since this is not Metal Gear Solid or an equivalent.

DinerTown Detective Agency takes players to 20 new locations within DinerTown to solve a series of kooky “whodunit” cases that have thrown the residents into a state of confusion. The typical tension of the mystery genre is replaced with tongue-in-cheek cases including “Who stuck their finger in all the jelly donuts?” and “Who’s ordering pizzas to my house from the worst place in town?” All of which lead to a much bigger mystery that envelops the DinerTown community.

According to Kenny Shea Dinkin, vice president and creative director, PlayFirst, “With DinerTown Detective Agency, we decided to present a fresh angle on the hidden object genre and entertain players in a challenging but uniquely satirical way. Players will experience the comic irony in every aspect of the game including design, color, storyline, dialog, music and characters.” There are 25 baffling cases to solve, so it ought to put that brain of yours to good use in the process.
