Rock Band is a totally unique gaming experience for folks who love rhythm-based games, and most people who have given it a go before would gush about the playability of it alongside the way it makes gaming more social physically. Well, who would’ve thought that such a title would actually make its way to the portable platform? Harmonix and MTV Games have come together alongside EA to ship Rock Band Unplugged for the PSP in both North America and Europe beginning from today, so make a beeline to the nearest video game store if you want to check out what this is all about.

Developed by Harmonix in partnership with Backbone Entertainment, a Foundation 9 Entertainment studio, Rock Band Unplugged creates a full band experience in the palm of players’ hands by combining traditional beatmatch gameplay with key elements from both Rock Band and Rock Band 2. The hands are the “peripherals” in Rock Band Unplugged allowing players to take direct control of the lead/bass guitars, drums and vocals. In addition, players can capture a deep and interactive Rock Band experience by taking their band on the road in World Tour mode, practicing their chops in the Band Warmup Mode, or by taking on the most extreme musical challenge imaginable in Band Survival mode. Rock Band Unplugged features 41 master recordings including nine songs new to the Rock Band music catalog that are exclusive to the PSP system for a limited time! Plus, Rock Band Unplugged features the first in-game store for downloadable content on the PSP system leveraging the PSP system’s wireless capabilities and powered by PlayStation Network.

Depending on which continent you’re at, pricing for Rock Band Unplugged will be different. North Americans can get theirs for $39.99 while Europeans will have to pay the equivalent figure in Euros. As for our friends in the UK, theirs is a more affordable GBP29.99, while those who want to pick up the bundle in the form of the Limited Edition Rock Band PSP Entertainment Pack can do so for $199.99, unfortunately this is valid only in North America.
