Uncharted 2: Among Thieves offer online competitive modes
April 28th, 2009 by Edwin in Games – New Releases
Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) has just announced the availability of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves for folks in that region. This PS3 exclusive title doesn’t look as though it will move a whole lot of hardware on its own, but fans of the franchise will definitely be interested in checking out the online competitive and cooperative multiplayer modes. For those who are not in the know, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is the sequel to Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, and will see intense competition of up to 10-players in 5-versus-5 competitive gameplay. Folks who prefer to work together will be able to enjoy co-operation with up to 3 players simultaneously in order to work their way out of a range of environments.
Presented with multiple modes of competitive gameplay, players battle in ranked matches that include Death Match and Plunder, a unique style of multiplayer competition that encourages team work to transport a treasure over dynamic terrain such as ledges and obstacles. Plunder brings truly vertical game play to traditional multiplayer modes. With maps based on environments from the single player campaign, players are taken from the nighttime streets of a war torn city to a Nepalese village and have the ability to create custom games allowing them to play any type of game on any map. “Adding a multiplayer aspect to the UNCHARTED franchise is a significant step in the replayability of the game,” said Christophe Balestra, co president Naughty Dog. “UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves will be the most impressive and ambitious game that Naughty Dog has done and we are thrilled to let our fans experience it this fall.”
SCEA is currently working on a consumer beta program for Uncharted 2: Among Thieves from June 3rd onwards until June 28th. Those who have purchased the first copies of inFAMOUS will qualify to be among the first few in the world to test the various multiplayer modes found in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves courtesy of an access key packed in the box. No idea on pricing, but we do look forward to the high quality graphics that the seminal title was famous for.
