Gardening Mama makes it to prime time
April 1st, 2009 by Edwin in Games – New Releases
At long last, fans of the Cooking Mama series that made a hit on both the Nintendo DS and Wii will have something else to cheer about, as she ditches her apron for a pair of gardening gloves. Also hailing from Majesco’s stable, Gardening Mama for the DS has already been shipped to retail stores nationwide, making this the first ever gardening game and also the debut brand offshoot for the series. While we ask ourselves, just how is a gardening game supposed to be fun, remember what the pundits said about Cooking Mama when it first came out? “A cooking game? That’ll never amount to much”…
Gardening Mama transforms the stylus into a universal gardening tool that players will use to plant, nurture and harvest 37 different varieties of flowers, fruits and vegetables. Gamers can manage their garden through the seeding, blooming and maturation phases, and then produce items from the plants they’ve grown. A robust multiplayer mode lets up to four friends compete to grow the biggest harvest and Treasure Box mode lets players share items they’ve grown with online friends. In addition, players can change Mama’s outfit to their liking while customizing the screen design to their preference.
Gardening Mama for the Nintendo DS has been rated E for Everyone and can be picked up for $29.99 a pop – definitely much more expensive compared to the more affordable $19.99 price tag that Cooking Mama came with. For those who are curious and think that they could make do without this, you can always approach one of 10,000 Nintendo Kiosks located at major retailers nationwide to get a free demo.
