Terminator Salvation to arrive on cell phones

March 11th, 2009 by Edwin in Game Previews

The last Terminator instalment on the silver screen was nothing but crap, even when you had a red hot Terminatrix who could adjust her chest size accordingly to suit the situation. Well, one thing’s for sure – we know that Terminator Salvation won’t win an Oscar when it comes to the storyline, but it looks set to be a summer blockbuster what with a bunch of T-800s running around, tearing up the place. Gameloft, a leading developer and publisher of video games for cell phones and consoles, has just agreed to develop, distribute and publish the official cell phone game with The Halcyon Company. It will be the first of its kind and will be released on the same day and date of the film’s debut on May 22, 2009.

In the highly anticipated new installment of The Terminator film franchise, set in post-apocalyptic 2018, Christian Bale stars as John Connor, the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. But the future that Connor was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet’s operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible annihilation of mankind. “The Terminator franchise is one of the world’s most recognized brands and Gameloft is pleased to create the game that brings the excitement of the movie to your fingertips,” said Gonzague de Vallois, senior vice president of publishing, Gameloft. “The film provides an optimal environment for our new game and will capture the thrills of the sci-fi adventure for Terminator Salvation fans worldwide.”

Well, hopefully this game will be compatible with a vast array of cell phones, as we do know that modern games require a fair bit of processing power and the ability to handle graphics, so a high powered game like Terminator Salvation ought to experience smooth framerates even with dozens of robots on the screen simultaneously for an optimal gaming experience.
