Capcom ships Street Fighter IV
February 18th, 2009 by Edwin in Games – New Releases
At long last, the wait is over. Rabid fans of the classic Street Fighter series will soon be able to get their calloused, battle-hardened hands on a copy of Street Fighter IV at a retail store near them. This title will logically be available on beefy current generation systems, ruling out the Nintendo Wii. That leaves only the Xbox 360 and PS3 to bring classic 2D Street Fighter fighting action mixed with a bunch of new characters, visuals in high definition 3D quality as well as next-generation fluid gameplay to keep you gaming long into the night until the morning sun rises.
Street Fighter IV features a mix of returning favorites such as Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li and Guile along with new characters created exclusively for this game such as Crimson Viper, Abel, El Fuerte, and Rufus. Characters and environments are rendered in high definition 3D, while the game is played in the classic Street Fighter 2D perspective with additional 3D camera flourishes. Six-button controls for the game return, with a host of new special moves and features integrated into the input system. Street Fighter IV also incorporates state of the art online match making and worldwide online gameplay. Mixing classic genre-defining game mechanics the franchise is known and loved for with all-new, never-before-seen gameplay systems, Street Fighter IV brings a brand new fighting game to fans the world over. With the inclusion of Capcom’s latest advancements in new generation technology, Street Fighter IV promises to deliver an extraordinary experience that will re-introduce the world to the time-honored art of virtual martial arts.
Those who want to know more can head over here, and anyone who signs up at the site will stand a chance to receive the latest news and updates in terms of Street Fighter IV screens, video and information. It has been rated by the ESRB as Teen and will retail for $59.99 in North America for the Standard Edition, whereas the Collector’s Edition is going for $79.99.

February 22nd, 2009 at 1:46 amI bought this game but still haven’t opened it yet because I can’t find the official Street Fighter IV pad anywhere. I drove store to store on Friday and had no luck. I’ll probably play the game tonight without the pad. I couldn’t find the large joystick in the stores either. I checked everywhere — Toys R Us, Best Buy, GameStop, Kmart (yeah right) and Walmart.
