Activision Standalone Guitar Hero Controllers now available in North America

February 16th, 2009 by Edwin in Gaming Hardware

Guitar Hero fans who want to give their Guitar Hero playing experience a boost can upgrade their controller thanks to Activision Publishing, Inc. who has just made available their individual guitar controllers and drum kit controllers on North American store shelves since yesterday. It is right now compatible with Guitar Hero World Tour but will also play nice with Guitar Hero Metallica which will be out later this spring. As for the wireless drum kit controller, it will come with a trio of drum pads, a couple of raised cymbal pads and a bass kick pedal, accompanied by velocity-sensitive drum heads with soft rubber construction to deliver that certain bounce when struck with a drum stick that drummers are used to. No rocket scientists required here to set up the entire thingamajic, as it is highly portable and can be stowed away easily. For those who think about the future, the drum kit controller can be expanded with a second bass kick pedal which will certainly appeal to expert gamers who love rocking to double bass pedal charts in Guitar Hero Metallica. The Guitar Hero World Tour guitar controller will be equipped with a touch-sensitive slide on the neck and works with the entire back catalog of Guitar Hero – needless to say, it will be compatible with Guitar Hero Metallica too.

Guitar Hero World Tour transforms music gaming by expanding Guitar Hero’s signature guitar gameplay into a cooperative band experience that combines the most advanced wireless controllers with new revolutionary online and offline gameplay modes including Band Career and 8-player “Battle of the Bands,” which allows two full bands to compete head-to-head online. The game features a slick newly redesigned guitar controller, drum kit controller and a wired microphone, as well as an innovative Music Studio music creator that lets players compose, record, edit and share their own rock ‘n’ roll anthems. Music creators are also able to share their recordings with their friends online through GHTunes where other gamers can download and play an endless supply of unique creations.

No idea on how much these will cost though, but they sound worth a look.
