Orchard released for the PC

January 26th, 2009 by Edwin in Games – New Releases

When we speak about Majesco Entertainment, the first thing that comes to my mind would be the Cooking Mama series (there’s even a Gardening Mama now, can you believe it? We’re just keeping our fingers crossed for an R-rated version of Breastfeeding Mama, but guess there won’t be anything of that sort anytime soon). The company has expanded its horizons to not only concentrate on the Nintendo DS and Wii platforms, but has release a new game for the PC known as Orchard. This title is developed by BoomZap and co-published with Gogii Games, where players are supposed to manage all aspects of a growing, working farm and roadside farm stand – hmmm, sounds a wee bit like Harvest Moon now.

In Orchard, players must dig in to salvage their granduncle Fred’s orchard from its horrible state of disrepair. By planting and harvesting crops, constructing useful buildings that increase capabilities, hiring and managing workers, and advertising to sell products, players can return the orchard to the thriving establishment that it once was. Additionally, players can create 20 recipes from Blackberry Pie to Strawberry Fudge by utilizing the bounty of the orchard — including strawberries, blueberries, cherries, grapes, apples and more! Baked goods can also be sold to increase profits and increase the reputation of the Orchard, allowing players to win awards and increase their trophy collection.

As with many of the other Majesco games, Orchard is rated E for Everyone and can be downloaded from the following sites :- Playfirst, Iwin, Arcadetown, Reflexive Entertainment/Amazon, Bigfish Games, Oberon Media, GameFools, and Shockwave and will soon be available from Wildtangent, RealArcade and Boonty. You’ll get a 1-hour free trial before you make up your mind to purchase it from the mentioned sites. Hopefully the trial software won’t show only the good aspects of the game but all facets so that we can make a sound decision.
