Capcom talks about downloadable games

January 1st, 2009 by Edwin in General Gaming News

Capcom has come up with some delectable hits in the past, and they certainly don’t look as though they’re running out of ideas anytime soon with a plethora of hits in 2008. 2009 is another new year for everyone to look forward to, and fans of the video game company might be wondering just how Capcom is going to approach digital distribution this year after being awarded the first branded storefront on the PlayStation Network. Good thing Capcom product manager John Diamonon has let the cat out of the bag that his company will have a decent lineup of downloadable games that comprise of retro and original titles for the coming year.

2009 ought to be a great year, or in wine circles, a good year for those who are looking for opportunities to browse through Capcom’s back catalog without having to drive down to the nearest brick and mortar store. We’re looking forward to Monster Hunter Portable making an appearance, as anticipation is high that a whole slew of downloadable PSP and PSone titles will be made available as well in 2009. What are some of the Capcom classics that you would like to see make an appearance? Obvious choices would include the Street Fighter franchise that dates back all the way from the Psone, of course.

Here’s to milking old cash cows yet again. Guess retro titles are here to stay with medium distribution taking on the download route. Oldies are goodies, that’s for sure. Hopefully they won’t be too expensive to download though.
