Activision spills the beans on X-Men Origins: Wolverine
December 12th, 2008 by Edwin in Game Previews
Wolverine is arguably one of the more popular Marvel characters of all time. After all, I wouldn’t mind trading in some height for all of his superpowers – imagine having superhuman senses, an unbreakable skeleton (during the times where I have adamantium bonded to my bones, of course), a superior healing factor (if only it came with a pain suppressant hormone) and the ability to look young all the time thanks to the aforementioned healing factor. Well, there will be a new video game from Activision that will tie in with the global debut of the X-Men Origin: Wolverine movie next summer. After all, most cool movies these days need a video game to go along with it, so hopefully this title won’t be a dud.
From the award-winning studio Raven Software, the video game enlists players to experience the tormented origins of Wolverine, from his escape of the Weapon X facility to the jungles of Africa and beyond. The game is currently in development for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system, PLAYSTATION 3 computer entertainment system, Windows PC, Wii home video game system, Nintendo DS, PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system and PSP system, and is not yet rated by the ESRB.
It would be interesting to see how the Wii and DS versions turn out – better get a screen protector if you find plenty of literal hack and slash action just like Ninja Gaiden on the DS! Expect these titles to sell well even though the game fails to live up to fans’ expectations. After all, just take a look at Transformers.
