Fanatec Porsche 911 Carrera Racing Wheel arrives on PS3 and PC

Are you a racing simulator fan? If so, and if you get most of your gaming kicks off a PC or PS3, then might I recommend you take a look at the Fanatec Porsche 911 Carrera Racing Wheel? After all, surely you must have lusted after a supercar like the Porsche (assuming you’re one of us ordinary Joes who can’t afford such beauties in our garage - if you’re rich enough or are driving your own Porsche, skip this), and here’s a chance for you to bring that loving feeling right into the comfort of your living room.
Licensed by Porsche Lizenz- und Handelsgesellschaft mbH, the Fanatec Porsche 911 Carrera Racing Wheel features an interchangeable gear stick (6 + 1 Speed) that can be mounted on either side of the wheel, realistic clutch pedal with declining resistance, a powerful Mabuchi RS 550 force feedback motor, an adjustable turning angle (up to 900°), a tuning function that allows gamers to change force feedback during gameplay, and an extra large wheel rim of 300mm in diameter crafted from high-quality TPE rubber. Add in unique mechanics for each pedal and an authentic metal Porsche logo and it’s just like being on the road…gamers truly get the feeling they are playing with the real thing! Lastly, to keep everything from moving all over the place, the Fanatec Porsche 911 Carrera Racing Wheel utilizes strong table clamps (with quick release), special non-slip rubber pads, and VELCRO strips on the pedals. The wheel is compatible with all PC games that support force feedback and a sequential gear stick and metal paddle shifters are optional as an accessory.
You will be able to place your pre-orders now for $129.95 a pop, but be warned - it will not ship until February 15, 2009, which is still a long way off. Strange how Fanatec decided to give the holiday shopping season a miss with this one - such a pity.
