PopCap Games to roll out new Bejeweled

September 30th, 2008 by Edwin in General Gaming News

PopCap Games is a name synonymous with addictive online games, and Bejeweled is one of those that will stick in memory for most people as bosses see countless hours of productivity go down the drain while employees click away furiously, trying to gain that elusive high score. I myself was guilty of that during the days where I was an office drone, but I must say Bejeweled really went a long way in making those dreary hours roll by quickly and painlessly. This time round, PopCap Games will light up the scene with a new Bejeweled title known as Bejeweled Twist, bringing a new perspective to this genre. Being three years in the making would raise my expectations rather high, so hopefully PopCap Games won’t fail to deliver here.

According to Jason Kapalka, co-founder and chief creative officer at PopCap, “As our first and most popular game, we’re particularly dedicated to Bejeweled and wanted to make sure that our next offering in the lineup delivered as much innovation, polish, and sheer pleasure as possible. We spent a long time conceiving and prototyping a totally new direction for Bejeweled Twist. The game will be immediately recognizable to Bejeweled fans, and as accessible as earlier titles in the series, but with far more depth and flexibility. Previous versions of Bejeweled appealed to a pretty broad audience, but we’re confident Bejeweled Twist will offer a compelling experience for everyone, from the novice gamer to the seriously hardcore player.”

Unfortunately, PopCap Games has done an excellent job by keeping everything about Bejeweled Twist under wraps to date. More details to follow as the game is unveiled at a gala event at Seattle’s Experience Music Project Sci-Fi Museum and Hall of Fame on the evening of October 27, 2008.
