Line Rider on the iPhone as well
September 20th, 2008 by Edwin in Games – New Releases
I know that we covered Line Rider 2: Unbound a couple of days ago that will be made available to the Nintendo DS and Wii platforms before the year is over, but those who don’t own either but have an iPhone or iPhone 3G or iPod touch can still jump in on the action with Line Rider being made available on Apple’s platform thanks to inXile entertainment. It is pretty unbelievable that what started of as an Internet phenomenon has now resulted in a full blown game for so many platforms, and the iPhone/iPod touch version is now available from iTunes for a mere $2.99, which is a far cry from the console (handheld or otherwise) versions that run into the double digits.
Line Rider ‘fan boy’ TechDawg collaborated with inXile to create some groundbreaking tracks that are now available for download. The iPhone and iPod Touch version features a touch interface and will allow users to playback tracks in a ‘movie’ mode as well as upload tracks to the Internet for others to download and play. Players are also able to search for tracks by track name and/or author, rate other people’s tracks and browse the list of “Most Recent Tracks” as well as “Top Rated Tracks”. The Line Rider iPhone and iPod Touch version also includes the new Draw&Pan, Gravity Tilt and Night Ride features.
The first day of Line Rider on iTunes already pushed it to the top 10 paid applications list, which just goes to show what a great title this is as well as the huge demand from the masses. According to Brian Fargo, chief executive officer of inXile entertainment Inc., “Line Rider is the perfect game for the iPhone and will provide almost endless gameplay as mobile users will be able to share their tracks and ride the lines almost anywhere now.” You in?
