Xbox 360’s Rock Band 2 ships

September 13th, 2008 by Edwin in Games – New Releases

Owners of the Xbox 360 who have long been waiting for Rock Band 2 can finally end their prolonged vigil, as MTV Games, Harmonix and Electronic Arts have already started to ship this title to retail. It will make its debut tomorrow (September 14th), so make sure you line up early if you want to secure a copy for yourself. I’m no good at all when it comes to rhythm games, but that doesn’t mean I am going to give up on titles such as this, today or in the future. What’s more, at least I can round up a bunch of other friends to give Rock Band 2 a go and make myself feel a wee bit better knowing that my mates aren’t musically inclined either.

Rock Band 2 is set to revolutionize music gaming with the ability to export most of the songs from the original Rock Band disc, Online World Tour, daily Battle-Of-The Band Tournaments, Auto-Calibration to eliminate TV lag, wireless drums, quieter, velocity sensitive drum heads, support for up to three cymbals (sold separately), advanced voice detection technology, No Fail Mode, and a real Drum Trainer. Rock Band 2’s massive list of innovations also includes the ability to export your in-game band avatar to the internet and order custom Rock Band merchandise including apparel and figures.

The standalone software for Rock Band 2 will cost $59.99, while the standalone wireless drums will burn another $89.99 hole in your pockets. For folks who want to complete the set and bring home the standalone wireless guitar, that will cost $69.99 more, so make sure you have a decent amount of dough stashed away before enjoying the Rock Band 2 experience to the max.
