Illusion Labs unveil Touchgrind multi-touch skate game

September 9th, 2008 by Edwin in Games – New Releases

With multi-touch as a user interface taking on the world by storm thanks to a deluge of iPhones all over the globe, Illusion Labs wants to be first off the blocks with the first multi-touch skate game in the world. It is very different from all the other skating games out there since it relies on specific finger gestures that are swiped in a similar manner as that of legs and feet on a real skateboard. The game is known as Touchgrind, and will be readily available over the App Store this October.

The player rides freely in a skatepark and performs tricks on ramps, boxes and rails. The dynamic and innovative controls together with the game being built on a high quality physics engine gives the players a high degree of freedom to come up with their own tricks. Apart from the natural controls, Illusion Labs has developed an online level editor open to the community to create and publish their own skateparks. From Illusion Labs’ experience with Labyrinth they believe that users are eager to contribute and being part of the game design. Inspired by the Web 2.0 concept, where the users get more involved in building the web, Illusion Labs has defined the term Game 2.0. Touchgrind follows the same principle to let users create their own levels and affect the features of the game. On the website players can post requests for new features, discuss them and vote for their favorites. Even after the release the community can thereby affect the game.

How any games have you purchased over the App Store, and which are the ones you think are totally worth it, while listing down duds for the rest of us to avoid?
