Peggle to hit the DS this winter

PopCap Games will definitely ring a bell with most people as this is one company that churns out plenty of casual gaming titles in the market. The developer has just announced that the mega-hit game Peggle will make an appearance on the DS platform sometime this winter, carrying an average price tag of $29.95 to keep you entertained during the long and cold winter months. PopCap will be hooking up with Q Entertainment, a highly acclaimed Japanese development studio, and the finished product will see unique features thrown in that are currently unavailable to the PC, Mac and iPod versions.
According to Greg Canessa, PopCap’s vice president of video game platforms, “I have a great deal of respect for Q Entertainment as one of the industry’s preeminent game developers, with a proven reputation for creativity and innovation. Q is a great choice to partner with us — they share many of PopCap’s design and creative philosophies and are equally big believers in quality and attention to detail. These factors, combined with Q’s impressive track record of success on DS and PSP, make this a natural fit. I’m confident that Q will create an experience with Peggle for DS that will both satisfy existing fans of the game and attract a new audience of on-the-go gamers who appreciate the DS for its one-of-a-kind display format and other unique capabilities.”
Just in case you’re still having doubts about Q Entertainment’s pedigree, they have brought now puzzle classics such as Lumines, Meteos and Rez HD to the video gaming world. Those who love puzzle games will surely know that Peggle won’t be a half-baked effort - I’m looking forward to it.
