Blizzard announces Diablo III
June 30th, 2008 by Edwin in General Gaming News
The Diablo series from Blizzard has been acclaimed to be a mouse killer for many people having played it in the past, and it is no wonder why. This highly addictive dungeon crawler just makes you feel as though you want to level up more and more each time you boot the game up, with various character classes and routes to take to complete the game. It is with great pleasure that Blizzard has just announced Diablo III, the third outing in this franchise. Once again, the sleepy hollow of Tristam is under siege by evil creatures, and it is up to you to eliminate them. I wonder just how much longer the citizens of that town must suffer, considering they have been under the evil clutches of Diablo, Mephisto and Baal for quite some time already. Surely the inhabitants are scarred psychologically beyond measure by now.
This title will focus more on co-operative play than solo runs, and once again, Battle.net will be available for online gaming. I must say that Battle.net truly kicked off the world of online multiplayer gaming like no other game ever did before, and being free, this is good news in a day and age where online play have come to cost a fair hit on gamers’ pockets. Diablo III will feature a new 3D graphics environment based on Havok physics, allowing gamers to interact with and destroy the environment (for those with repressed anger, I suppose). I remember in the days of the 486, there was this game called Crusader: No Remorse that featured a highly destructive environment too, but those days are long gone. As with Diablo II, Diablo III is equipped with a random-level generator so that each level remains unique.
There is no word on a release date yet though.
