Orchard heading for the PC
June 15th, 2008 by Edwin in Games – New Releases
Those who love all things green, especially plants, will be pleased to know that Majesco Entertainment Company will be bringing Orchard, the company’s first foray into the casual online gaming market, to the PC. Co-developed by BoomZap Entertainment, this engaging simulation will see players learn how to juggle all aspects of a growing orchard and roadside farm stand business. Sounds like a pretty subdued experience to me - there aren’t any aliens to zap nor people to kill - will it be able to hold the attention of casual gamers? After all, many casual games these days that are successful are also addictive, but somehow I’m rather skeptical about the green thumb philosophy behind this title.
When your aunt passes away, the neglected family orchard is left to her only remaining relative — you! Come rain or shine, it’s your task to dig in and salvage the orchard from its state of disrepair and turn it into the thriving business it once was. Hire and manage workers, plant and harvest crops, construct processing and storage facilities, and advertise and sell products in your efforts to make a profit. You can also use the bounty of the orchard — including strawberries, blueberries, cherries, grapes and apples — to create 20 recipes from Blackberry Pie to Strawberry Fudge, all while striving to win awards and build your trophy collection.
You will be able to find Orchard as an online download this coming holiday season. Well, I guess this is another candidate for a time waster at the office.
