Wii Fit takes world by storm
May 26th, 2008 by Edwin in Games – New Releases
I guess Wii Fit is yet another winner from Nintendo, as this non-game title has taken the world by storm no matter which continent it was released in. Japan, home of Nintendo, has lapped up the Wii Fit title for weeks on end, consistently placing it at the top of sales charts while Europe and US gamers have also tried Wii Fit with the majority of them going away more than just impressed. There is something magical about Mr. Miyamoto’s touch in Nintendo, being celebrated and revered around the world by gamers for coming out with gems such as Donkey Kong, Mario, and Zelda over the years, with the Wii being the latest winner from this video game legend.
Mr. Miyamoto muses, “What’s important is that the people that I work with are also recognized and that it’s the Nintendo brand that goes forward and continues to become strong and popular. And if people are going to consider the Nintendo brand as being on the same level as the Disney brand, that’s very flattering and makes me happy to hear.”
Andy McNamara, editor in chief of Game Informer, paid homage to Mr. Miyamoto, “Without Miyamoto, Nintendo would be back making playing cards. He probably inspires 99 percent of the developers out there today. You can even say there wouldn’t be video games today if it wasn’t for Miyamoto and Nintendo. He’s the granddad of all game developers, but the funny thing is that for all of his legacy, for all of the mainstay iconic characters he’s designed and created, he is still pushing the limits with things like Wii Fit.”
Have you picked up Wii Fit yet?
