Majesco Entertainment ships Toy Shop for DS

April 30th, 2008 by Edwin in Games – New Releases

toyshop.jpgMajesco Entertainment has begun to ship Toy Shop to retail outlets nationwide, bringing yet another non-game title to the DS that will definitely appeal to casual gamers. More serious gamers ought to give this a miss - after all, the Sony PSP surely has more than its fair share of gaming titles that will tug the heartstrings and wallets of more mature gamers. Toy Shop requires one to have a more childlike approach to gaming, encouraging entrepreneurship and creativity by challenging players to run a successful business that creates and sells toys.

According to Gui Karyo, Executive Vice President of Operations, Majesco, “Toy Shop offers a unique twist on the traditional business sim by combining toy production, sales and an original storyline. An in-depth sim experience, Toy Shop will resonate with DS owners looking for high quality entertainment at a great value.”

Players get to choose a style of play that suits them in Toy Shop. If you’re extremely autocratic, chances are you would like to assume full control of all aspects of the family toy business while other people might prefer to specialize in just making toys and selling them, never mind the operational part. While the game mechanics will never be able to reflect the business environment in the real world, I’m eagerly waiting for the day to come where a business tycoon will actually include in his/her speech that playing Toy Shop on the Nintendo DS made him/her the man/woman he/she is today. Toy Shop can be picked up at a pocket friendly $19.99.

Today, we’ll look at a new title for the DS - Rollin’ Rascals. This puzzle game will definitely appeal to brainiacs as the player attempts to round up the lost residents of Kololo Kingdom and return them home. You are challenged to reunite matching pairs of adorable critters ranging from pandas to puppies to pigs, simply by rolling them around obstacles and into each other to clear the game board of pets before time runs out. A tinge of Katamari there, perhaps? [...]
