Moshi Monsters launched
April 27th, 2008 by Edwin in Games – New Releases
Mind Candy has rolled out Moshi Monsters, yet another virtual world for the kids of today to indulge in. I suppose this is another distraction, considering the amount of social networking sites they already have to keep them occupied. With Moshi Monsters, chances are they’ll find it a whole lot harder trying to juggle their time and prioritize just exactly how they want to spend their Internet hours. Players in Moshi Monsters will adopt their own Monster, and just like a Tamagotchi, they’ll have to help keep it happy although not through the conventional method of feeding them and having a few games with them. Instead, these monsters will set daily puzzles to the owner, and solving these puzzles will keep your monster happy.
There are the standard methods of interacting with your pet as well - through tickling, playing games, shopping, designing rooms and even dressing up. The whole point of this game is to create an emotional bond between the owner and their Monster, which is further achieved via sophisticated flash animation and a complex behavioral engine. Through time, Monsters will develop their own unique personalities depending on how well, or badly, they’ve been treated. This game is also a social network in itself, allowing players to connect and communicate with others through a Friends Tree, visits to other Monster rooms, as well as the Pinboard messaging system.
Parents need not fret where online child safety is concerned, since the Moshi Monsters team diligently monitors site activity to insure a secure environment for children.
