Smash Court Tennis 3 heads for the Xbox 360
April 24th, 2008 by Edwin in Games – New Releases
Smash Court Tennis 3 from Atari will be making its way to the Xbox 360, bringing yet another tennis game into the market. I suppose the first tennis game that really caught my attention and robbed plenty of hours from my life would be Virtua Tennis (I played the PC version), and it is good to see another tennis title appear on the Xbox platform. You will get all the larger-than-life names in this game, including the current king and queen, Roger Federer and Maria Sharapova. Needless to say, the graphics will be top notch while you get a whole variety of gameplay enhancements in addition to online play through Xbox LIVE this June.
You will go up against 16 of the world’s best international tennis players. Apart from the two mentioned earlier, fans will also get to step into the shoes of the tenacious Rafael Nadal as well as the once dominant Martina Hingis. Rising stars such as Italy’s Andreas Seppi and Nicole Vaidisova of the Czech Republic will also be made available, where each individual player will feature different strengths and weaknesses. Graphically speaking, this title is set to raise animation to new heights thanks to realistic shadows, skin shaders and High Dynamic Range rendering that brings a greater level of realism and immersion for the player.
Gameplay modes consist of Tutorial, Arcade, Pro-Tour, and Exhibition mode where up to four players can go head to head offline. You can also pit your skills against other opponents online through Xbox LIVE, where voice chat lets you trash talk before you let your (virtual) racket do the talking.
