Perfect World announced the unveiling of its official website of Pocketpet Journey West, the first flying pet-featured 3D MMORPG from the company. Beats me what the heck a “flying pet” actually is at first, so hopefully the information divulged at the bottom will be of greater help. Perfect World says that Pocketpet Journey West is a 3D MMORPG based on the classic Chinese literature novel, “Journey to the West”. For folks who show a keen interest in one of the four great classic novels from China, this is one modern update to the entire “franchise” (if I may call it so).

In this game, you will see the use of innovative diversified pet systems that enables gamers to catch monsters (sounds like Pokemon, eh) and raise them as pets, whereby in due time the attributes of each pet will be enhanced depending on how you train it. As with any other decent online game, interactivity is of the utmost importance, and this is where pet trading comes in. Got something your neighbor doesn’t but he/she has something you want? Come to an agreement and both of you will be happy campers. Heck, you will even be able to combine a couple of pets in order to create customized or enhanced attributes, so I’d expect a strategy guide for this MMORPG to be released pretty soon.

Other features unique from the “Journey to the West” series include Cloud Surfing (literally, dude, thanks to the Monkey God who popularized this “sport”) and 72 Changes where you will be able to take on the form of an animal or object of your choice whenever you try to infiltrate the base of a demon. No idea on when the final product will be released though.
