Alone in the Dark delayed
April 4th, 2008 by Edwin in Games – New Releases
Atari’s upcoming title which many tip will be a hit, Alone in the Dark, will be delayed from May to June. Guess fans of the survival horror genre will have to wait another month more before they pay good money just to wet their pants in the middle of the night. The original Alone in the Dark title on the PC by Infogrames certainly had me hooked on the series, and until today my favorite is the second instalment of the franchise followed by the first. Alone in the Dark IV did not quite make the cut, as the gameplay lacked the urgency and storytelling finesse of the first two outings.
The platforms that will bring this new horror game to the masses are the Xbox 360, PC, Wii and PS2 which will launch in Europe this June 20th, while folks living across the pond will have to wait for another four days. A notable name missing from the console/platform line up would be the Sony PS3. Atari has assured us that the PS3 version is “to follow” - no idea whether that will end up as vaporware or not though.
The main reason for the delay is due to the perfectionist nature found in Atari and Eden - both companies want to offer the best possible game within their power, so I hope that the one month delay will be able to get things off on the right foot. According to Atari, it was keen on delivering the best to gamers after receiving positive responses from all and sundry who have seen the title, making this a flagship game for the publisher.
