gta4music.jpgThe Grand Theft Auto truly took off in a big way thanks to its appearance on the PS2 which heralded a new era of open-ended gaming, and good thing that GTA IV won’t be a PS3 exclusive as Xbox 360 owners will be able to enjoy this genre defining title as well. In fact, the hype surrounding GTA IV is so huge and has been whipped up into a massive maelstrom, with even some industry analysts touting the potential of this title to be one of the biggest titles of all time. With such potential, it is no wonder that Amazon and Rockstar Games are at the forefront where there’s good money to be made – both companies have come to an agreement that features a unique new model where digital music distribution is concerned; gamers will be able to purchase music from within the game itself for their iPods, PCs, and other compatible devices.

The in-game radio of the franchise has long been a fan favorite, and it really adds to the atmosphere of the game as players duke it out with the rest of the bad boys in Vice City and San Andreas. Some of these tunes are so addictive, you’d wish they were available for purchase. Well, with GTA IV, you need not worry any more since the many songs in there are available for purchase thanks to a new technology known as “ZiT” which allows gamers to dial a number on their in-game cell phone to receive a text message with details concerning the artist and track title. All you need to do then is sign up with the Rockstar Games Social Club and wait for an email to be sent to a custom Amazon.com playlist, where you will be able to purchase these phoned in tracks. The pricing won’t hit your wallet hard at all, as these DRM-free songs will cost less than a dollar each (89 to 99ยข to be exact).
