Rock Band headed for the Wii this June
March 25th, 2008 by Edwin in Games – New Releases
Wii owners who have long been maligned by other next-generation console owners can finally hold their head up high as MTV Games and Electronic Arts have just announced plans to bring Rock Band to the Wii this June 22nd – at least in Canada and the US. It will retail for $169.99, allowing you and a bunch of your mates start up an impromptu band to live out your musical fantasies. This release is no ordinary one, and once again it proves the adage that good things come to those who wait. It will come in a Special Edition bundle that consists of the game itself, a set of drums, a microphone and a wireless guitar. If you are rather pinched for cash and prefer to build up your band one instrument at a time, you can always pick up individual instruments on the release day itself as well.
According to some suits from MTV and Nintento, “The Wii’s success among casual and core gamers of all ages makes it an ideal match for the cross-generational appeal of the music featured in Rock Band. The social interaction and addictive nature of the Rock Band experience is a perfect fit for the Wii and will undoubtedly be fun for the entire family.”
I have absolutely no doubt that this game will sell tons more in addition to its 6 million sales to date. After all, the Wii has a wide user base and being a family oriented console, this homey game will definitely appeal to many a family. Rock Band has been rated “T” for Teen (lyrics, mild suggestive themes) by the ESRB.
