Urban Attack heading for cell phones
February 26th, 2008 by Edwin in Games – New Releases
Vivendi Games Mobile has just rolled out Urban Attack for the cell phone in North America, bringing a FPS title onto the mobile arena that is bound to thrill gamers of that platform. This title has already made its way into Europe recently, garnering some rather impressive review scores and previews from both the press and gamers, so that might have some weightage as to whether this is a decent title or not. It took around 20 months to develop this title, so that gamers will be able to experience 3D vectorial graphics that deliver 3D shooting action across more than 400 handsets that stay in the mid-range 2D devices to smartphones. In addition, Urban Attack takes the shooting genre to an entirely new level with a number of features never before seen on cell phones.
According to Paul Maglione, president of Vivendi Games Mobile, “Urban Attack for mobile has received numerous awards and accolades from fans and press in Europe - including being named one of the Top 10 Games of 2007 by the mobile gaming Web site Pocketgamer - and we are very excited to launch this highly anticipated mobile game in North America. Urban Attack truly represents an evolution in the action genre on mobile phones and we are sure fans of action games will agree that this game is like no other FPS on mobile.”
This title boasts an extremely varied and deep plot-driven storyline that include 60 different shooting phases, 100 character animations, three unique shooting modes and five weapons options. There are 14 different enemy behaviors that will greet you throughout the game, making it fresh each time you boot it up. I can’t wait to see how it plays out though. Generally, FPS titles on the handheld platform fail miserably, so here’s to hoping that Urban Attack will go against the grain.
