More Ice Age madness going mobile
February 20th, 2008 by Edwin in Games – New Releases
Glu Mobile Inc. has dropped the ball that it will be publishing more Ice Age brand games on the mobile platform after signing a multi-year agreement with Fox Mobile Entertainment. A brand new title, Ice Age: Mammoth Mayhem will be launched sometime this summer, and this title is exclusively available only on a cell phone platform so home console owners can forget about picking this up if they loved the 3D cartoon character that made a movie debut a fair number of years back.
Greg Ballard, president and chief executive officer, Glu says, “Our initial work with Fox on ICE AGE 2 proved a tremendous commercial success. We’re excited to have the opportunity to build on that success with our new mobile-exclusive ICE AGE game scheduled for summer of this year, and with a subsequent mobile game based on Fox’s ICE AGE 3 movie, scheduled for release in 2009.”
For those who are not in the know, Ice Age 2: Arctic Slide was tipped to be one of Glu’s highest selling game worldwide for 2006. The success back then was made possible thanks to the game’s global marketing campaign that rallied enthusiastic support from wireless operators in key new markets. Well, if you happen not to own a cell phone at this point in time (something unthinkable of in this day and age), you can always catch the third installment of the Ice Age franchise when it is released later next year during summer. No idea on how much Ice Age: Mammoth Mayhem will cost, but each download should be loose change IMHO.
