Cellufun wins “Best Mobile Game” award

February 15th, 2008 by Edwin in General Gaming News

cellufun.jpgLooks like the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona is a happy hunting ground for Cellufun, having picked up the “Best Mobile Game” award at that event. It isn’t the only winner though as Glu Mobile’s “My Hangman” also picked up accolades for itself in that category. The 13th Annual Global Mobile Awards ceremony was held at Barcelona’s National Palace, and it is an event that celebrates the highest achievements across the mobile industry, ranging from innovation to mobile entertainment, mobile services, handsets and devices.

It seems that Cellufun’s Call of the Pharaoh is “one of two outstanding entries that the judges just couldn’t split, so a joint winner. Call of the Pharaoh introduces social networking to games, you can’t win this all on your own, you need to call in your buddies. Beware, don’t start this game just before bedtime or you will spend all night on it!”

Has anyone tried that and found it to be true? I don’t know about you, but cell phone games aren’t exactly my cup of tea. After all, today’s handsets are still pretty limited when it comes to hardware and the ability to pump out graphics at a decent rate. Still, with NVIDIA entering the mobile graphics processor market (and I’m not talking about notebooks or laptops here), things can only get better from here. Hopefully there won’t be any bottlenecks where processor and graphics hardware are involved. I will still keep my DS Lite for a true portable gaming experience though, thank you very much.
