Toy Shop announced by Majesco
January 19th, 2008 by Edwin in Games – New Releases
Looks like the Nintendo DS has yet another title that is casual and fun to play - not to mention having the potential to sell a fair amount of copies to keep the game publisher Majesco happy. This title is known as Toy Shop, and as you can tell by the name, it is a new simulation game that places gamers at the helm of a struggling toy shop where there is a dire need to get back in the black by creating fun toys which will sell by the truckload while juggling with everyday woes such as inventory, customers and budget. If you ask me, they should include a secret cheat that allows one to unlock the DS and Wii which would then signal the end of the game since we know how both consoles sell out frequently.
According to Gui Karyo, Executive Vice President of Operations, Majesco, “The concept for this unique simulation is like Santa’s workshop meets retail tycoon. Toy Shop combines creative toy-making with overall store management to give players insight into the challenging, yet rewarding, business of fun. We believe Toy Shop has the same type of appeal as successful casual games like Cooking Mama and Cake Mania.”
Well, what can I say? Casual gaming looks set to stay, at least for a while more (this generation and probably into the next as well). The big question is, when will the current breed of casual gamers “grow up” in their gaming minds to be ready for more mature titles? Do you think that will ever happen?
