Rumor: MGS4 to hit Xbox 360?
January 3rd, 2008 by Edwin in General Gaming News
Ho! Ho! Ho! I know that Christmas has just passed but perhaps Santa might visit a little early for owners of the Xbox 360? Word on the street has it that Metal Gear Solid 4, the triple A title that Sony fanboys claim will see sales of their beloved console finally taking off, will make an appearance on the Xbox 360 within 12 to 14 months after the PS3 version is released this spring. According to XboxFamily, this information (rumor more like it) was blurted from a Konami representative during an undisclosed distribution meeting.
According to the fansite, “No, the rep will not be named, but this is pretty concrete. This is not a rumor.” Well, like all good rumors, I will believe it for myself when Konami releases an official statement. In the meantime, take this with a huge grain of salt. Remember November 2007 when Konami’s Ryan Payton told Reuters, “if you want to play Metal Gear Solid 4, you have to buy a PS3.”? Well that pretty much sums it all for the moment at lesat.
One could look back into history and argue otherwise though. Back in 2005, Capcom finally released Resident Evil 4 on the PS2, a year after the once-exclusive GameCube title was released since Nintendo’s offering failed miserably in the market. Just think about it - assuming Konami’s MGS4 does not perform as expected, seeing it ported over to the Xbox 360 is a very viable alternative considering the install base of Microsoft’s console.
