Nokia’s N-Gage service delayed
December 29th, 2007 by Edwin in General Gaming News
Looks like those who are anxiously waiting for Nokia’s N-Gage gaming service will just have to wait even longer, as the Finnish cellphone manufacturing company has pushed back the N-Gage launch no thanks to delays in software testing. While that might be agonizing to folks who already own N-Gage ready handsets from Nokia, it is always better to release a polished product than one that is full of bugs when in use. Hopefully the delay in the N-Gage’s release won’t interfere with the music shop and mapping services that are Nokia’s main weapons when it comes to making a name for itself in the mobile Internet service arena.
According to Nokia’s spokesman Kari Tuutti, the service would be opened in early 2008 as they have found yet another issue to solve before the service could be opened to the masses. Good for them, and if you’ve been waiting for so long already, what’s another few more months? After all, early 2008 would probably mean by June at the latest, so you will probably be able to start gaming with your mates as the summer begins next year. In the meantime, if you’re extremely desperate to get some portable gaming in, there are always the Nintendo DS Lite and the Sony PSP, depending on your preference of game genres.
How successful do you think the N-Gage gaming service will be? Hopefully it won’t be as convoluted as Nintendo’s Friend Code system, and folks had better sign up for unlimited data plans with their respective wireless carriers since online gaming tend to see a whole lot of data packets being shifted here and there.
