Electronic Arts has recently announced that Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning (WAR in short) has just crossed the magical 500,000 mark. This highly anticipated massively-multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) from EA Mythic has beta registrants from North America and Europe so far. Beta testing will resume next week with a special sneak peek at the new Dark Elf lands and careers. Courtesy to the amount of response from fans throughout the world, the development team are blessed with a really strong pool of gamers to engage in WAR’s final tuning stages before it is unleashed upon the masses.

According to Mark Jacobs, VP and General Manager of EA Mythic, “It’s fantastic that over half a million players want to help us with the development of WAR. Their feedback will help us take WAR to the next level as we focus on refining gameplay, adding polish, and most importantly, making sure the game is extremely fun. We can’t wait to let them all into the living, breathing Warhammer universe that we’re creating.”

Needless to say, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning is tipped to be one of the biggest new MMORPG releases of next year. An official launch is slated sometime in Q2 next year, although an exact date has yet to be confirmed. The Beta Center is currently still open and will continue to accept recruits here. For the curious, WAR will be based on on Games Workshop’s epic and longstanding tabletop fantasy war game. Further information can be found on the official website.
