avp-r.jpgAliens vs. Predator – Requiem, has started to ship today in the US. It will have a storyline that is based on the soon-to-come movie from 20th Century Fox. Developed by the very same team who did the original AvP for the PC (now that was a totally cool game – I loved it when you get to play as the Aliens faction, sneaking up on folks by being a Facehugger, and slowly working your way up the evolutionary ladder), this game will see players pit two of cinema’s most popular and terrifying science fiction icons against each other.

Aliens vs. Predator – Requiem will see players take on the role of an elite Predator carrying an extensive arsenal of exotic weaponry and equipment. Following his inborn instinct for the the hunt, you have but a single mission – remove all traces of the Alien outbreak that is currently happening on earth. Needless to say, you will have access to a bunch of advanced Predator technologies through your wrist computer, including the much loved Pred-tech/thermal vision modes and cloaking ability, letting you track, stalk and annihilate both human and Alien threats.

If playing alone isn’t your cup of tea, there is always a co-op multiplayer mode – players can team up with a friend wirelessly to play as Predator comrades, trying to hold their ground against wave after wave of attacking aliens. Sounds pretty much like the adrenaline rush you get from the Starship Troopers mod in Starcraft. According to Pascal Brochier, president, Global Retail for Vivendi Games, “The Aliens vs. Predator — Requiem movie promises to provide a
thrilling experience, and we are very excited to get the adrenaline pumping before the big screen battle begins with this exclusive title for the PSP system. Twentieth Century Fox has been an excellent partner, and we are very proud to be giving the fans of the franchise this action-packed interactive extension of the AvP series.”
