Ultimate Mortal Kombat ships
November 13th, 2007 by Edwin in Games – New Releases
Midway Games has announced that it will begin to ship Ultimate Mortal Kombat for the Nintendo DS platform, bringing the franchise’s fabled lighting fast fighting technique found in the arcade version of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, along with Puzzle Kombat from the critically acclaimed Mortal Kombat: Deception to Nintendo’s beloved handheld DS. Gamers will have ample opportunities to perfect their fighting skills either in single-player mode or challenge friends and enemies alike via multi-player over the Nintendo Wireless network.
Rated M for Mature by the ESRB, it is readily available and will retail for $29.95, making it a tad cheaper than other DS games that normally retail for $39.95. According to Steve Allison, chief marketing officer, Midway, “Midway is excited in bringing the award-winning Mortal Kombat franchise to the Nintendo DS. Ultimate Mortal Kombat enables gamers the opportunity to take their fighting on the go, with both single-player and multi-player online options playable anywhere at any time.â€
Will you be picking up this title if you’re a DS owner? I wonder how the button scheme will work out, and chances are the puzzles in the game itself require some sort of touchscreen use. Well, it’s been a long time in coming, and hopefully this title won’t stink when I finally get my hands on it. I just can’t wait to start performing Fatalities, Friendship and Babalities on different characters. The very fact that this beat ‘em up has WiFi multiplayer makes the title go a long, long way in terms of replayability value.
