Eye of Judgement accepts proxy cards

When the idea of a card-based console game was first mooted, many people were left wondering how exactly will Eye of Judgement play when it is finally released. Will it require an extremely steep learning curve? What about the cards involved - will it end up like yet another Magic: The Gathering, where those with the most money will logically be able to build the best decks in town due to accumulation of rare cards? One thing’s for sure though - Eye of Judgement has some pretty sweet graphics, but the fact that trading cards used in the game need not be original as the PlayStation Eye cannot make out the difference between an original and a proxy.

I guess this must have been quite a blow to the suits at Sony - after all, these cards were supposedly proxy-proof as they were printed with some sort of ink that was created specifically to avoid such a debacle. Perhaps there isn’t enough pixie dust in the mix, which was why snapping a photo or even scanning the card and printing it out on a regular inkjet printer would fool the PlayStation Eye into thinking that it was staring straight down at a true blue original. Needless to say, once news of this gets out to all, chances are you’ll see just a handful of folks purchasing boosters while keeping their fingers crossed that they’ll be able to get their hands on the cards that they want. All this while the unscrupulous trawl the Internet, looking for cards that they need and selectively printing them out at a minimal cost.

Did Sony executives walk under a ladder or cross the path of a thousand black cats this year? Looks like misery loves company, and Sony is getting heap upon heap of it.
