Ratchet & Clank PS3 gets save glitch
October 25th, 2007 by Edwin in Games – New Releases
Owners of the PS3 don’t really have much to look forward to these days, as new iterations of the hardware keep on being released but the essential item of any console – that is, games, are sorely missing from its lineup. While the rest of the world waits with bated breath for Metal Gear Solid 4 as well as the next Final Fantasy installment, at least there is Ratchet & Clank to tide gamers over, right? The answer is both yes and no, as Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction for the PS3 currently has a bug that could eventually result in some users being unable to create a save file for the game.
Developer Insomniac Games has released a statement, saying “some users will receive a message saying there is insufficient space to create the small save file, even if they have plenty of room left on their hard drive.” This does not bode well for the PS3 at all, considering how it needs every single title released to be of top notch quality if it was going to give both the Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii a serious run for their money this upcoming holiday season. Insomniac community manager James Stevenson has mentioned, “We recently discovered a bug on the US version of Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction that some of you may encounter the first time you boot the game. With specific amounts of free space on your drive, you may see a screen that tells you have insufficient space to create game data.”
It is speculated that this glitch happens only when the makeup of the content stored on the hard drive is of certain value, but further details were unavailable. Apparently it can be solved as long as the user deletes 500MB or more from their PS3 hard drive. It is said that upcoming copies of the game will be trouble free. Looks like early adopters often get the short end of the stick.
