Run around in WoW using Xbox 360 controller
October 17th, 2007 by Edwin in Gaming Hardware, General Gaming NewsNearly everyone and their dog already has experienced World of Warcraft, but how many of you use peripherals other than the keyboard and mouse to play? Well this effort features an Xbox 360 controller that works with your computer while you roam the worlds of Azeroth. This effort was made possible thanks to a software called Switchblade that was developed by a company known as Blue Orb Software. Best of all is, there is no price to pay for this piece of software since it has been made available for free.
No idea on why you would want to do this since I still find that the keyboard and mouse combo is the most comfortable to use so far. According to the press release, gamers who are currently hooked on the console experience will be able to enjoy the same feeling in WoW. Basic settings can be configured on their site, where both left and right triggers are used as toggles. As for the four action buttons, those can be turned into a dozen actions while allowing you to use any icon on one of the action bars in WoW. Sounds too rigid to engage in Player versus Player, but where daily quests and level grinding are concerned, this control solution ought to work just fine.
You can download this software through Xfire, and it ought to be compatible with any wired Xbox 360 controller. For those who want to enjoy wireless play, they will need to buy an extra receiver from Microsoft.
