Bass Fishing headed for the Wii

I’m one person who doesn’t really get the entire concept of fishing, and if I were a cartoon character, I would probably take the approach that Homer Simpson did in the Simpsons movie that was released this summer, electrocuting the entire lake for a month’s supply of freshwater fish. Before animal rights activists start baying for my blood, let me just cover my rear end by claiming that that was said in jest. Having said all that, fishing simulation lovers will definitely be pleased to know that Bass Fishing is heading for the Wii in the near future.

Bass Fishing is widely tipped to be much better than Hudson’s limp Fishing Master on the Wii. In fact, it left players wanting much more than what was offered, so with word of Sega bringing Bass Fishing to the Wii, one can only dance in little circles, whopping with joy while fellow fishing enthusiasts look on in amusement. This will be a port of the Dreamcast classic Sega Bass Fishing, and will make an appearance on the Wii sometime next spring - just in time as the snow has already melted and the world is ready to meet a brand new year, refreshed after a long cold winter.

In terms of graphics, don’t expect too much as the Wii isn’t exactly famous for its graphical ability. Still, do expect the graphics to be spruced up a fair bit (after all, the Dreamcast is a couple of generations behind) when you pick up this title. As they say, content is king, and Sega claims that this won’t be a 1 for 1 port, instead throwing in exclusively developed content that will not be available anywhere else. Features include over 20 different types of lures that aim to entice four different freshwater bass. Not only that, players can also choose the season and time of day, and with 15 different lakes available, you’ll probably go giddy with the wide range of choices.
