Burnout Paradise confirmed

burnout-paradise.jpgEveryone loves a great racing game, and the Burnout Paradise franchise is definitely one of them. Meant to ship from the beginning of next year onwards, EA has confirmed the game will boast a quartet of single player events, ranging from regular races to ‘Marked Man’, ‘Stunt’, and ‘Road Rage challenges, which means the highly anticipated ‘Crash’ events will not make an appearance. EA has even gone so far as to emulate Atari’s very own Test Drive: Unlimited tile by ensuring that the entire Paradise City game world will be made available in its entirety from the beginning, allowing players to start and even end a challenge at their leisure.

While there is the inclusion of single player racing, it is the multiplayer aspect that players can expect to look forward to. EA has revealed that they have now garnished the Burnout experience with “hundreds” of online challenges along with an ‘EasyDrive Friends List’ that will remain in the game internally. This feature enables players to appear in and out of online races at their whim and fancy without fretting at a game lobby – but how will that affect the in-game mechanics exactly, I don’t know.

This title will be headed towards the PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms, and you will be pleased to know that it will take advantage of Sony’s Dual Shock 3 controller. Guess rumble has always been essential when it comes to increasing the level of realism in racing games, so it is good to see Sony and Immersion put past grievances aside to give gamers the best playing experience possible. Burnout Paradise will also include support for the PlayStation Eye and Xbox Live Vision webcams that will capture images of players at the moment of impact.
