Guitar Hero DS ditches stylus use
September 10th, 2007 by Edwin in Games – New Releases
GamesAreFun (GAF) has some news bytes on Guitar Hero from this year’s Austin Game Developers Conference after squeezing out information from Adrian Earle, design manager for Vicarious Visions. We all know now that the humble (but hugely successful) Nintendo DS platform will be receiving the Guitar Hero game, but the main question on most of our minds would be – “Just how will the presentation be like? Will it somewhat resemble the graphics found on the home console platforms?”
Well, thankfully for everyone, Adrian did mention that the visuals alone are consistent with the other titles in the Guitar Hero franchise, and that is saying a lot considering how limited the DS’ graphical capabilities are. You can forget about viewing cel-shaded cartoon-like figures on the tiny display nor 2D character sprites – instead be prepared to rock on in a portable manner, staying within the established 3D Guitar Hero “look”.
Interestingly enough, one would expect a game like Guitar Hero DS to use the stylus in one way or another, but Adrian did mention the contrary. Guess we’re really stumped now as to how the game will be played – one thing’s for sure though, it won’t be anything like Ubisoft’s Jam Sessions. Apparently, there will be a new peripheral released for input although the final design has yet to be decided upon. Guess the title will come with a premium of some sort over the standard DS title, but if the game is long enough, the extra price paid would be worth it.
